The XVIII Congress "Flexo 4.0: Packaging of the future" organized by ATF (Association Technique Francaise de Flexographie) was held in La Rochelle, France, on December 8th.
After an initial introduction of the President of the Association, Jean-Pierre Bonnet and a presentation by Tiziano Polito, journalist of Packaging Magazine, there were two round tables attended by the main representatives of the packaging industry, including Uteco.
Topics of the Roundtable: flexo technology in a future that feels more and more the need to develop green, eco-friendly, energy-saving, technologies with particular attention to the environment. Uteco explained how already at the Drupa 2016 it presented a machine that perfectly corresponds to these needs, the Onyx Xs Eco-One, which uses the innovative EB technology for printing, coating, mating and cutting, allowing excellent printing results with 25% of energy consumption, the 100% reduction in solvent of entries, 60% less in consumption and in the ink tank, great reduction of waste and fumes and no risk for the operator. A machine that has had from the very beginning a great success, so much that there have already been planned in 2017, in agreement with the customers, a number of developments in order to certify the process for application in Food Packaging. Following the discussion, a brief moment of Q&A.
In the afternoon, an intervention of two major successful sports figures took place: the Paralympic athlete Damien Seguin, winner of several gold medals in sailing, and 23-times world champion of windsurf Antoine Albeau.
Finally, the day ended with the assigning of the thirtieth Flexostars award, that in the category "print on paper" saw Mondi Betheniville, an important client for Uteco, excel with a gold.
