Uteco would like to gather and share the most important moments of the 2015 just ended

As a conclusion of a very important and successful year for Uteco, including all events concomitants with the celebration of the 30th year of business activity, and the participation to the most important happenings and trade shows of the branch, Uteco would like to gather and share the most important moments of the 2015 just ended, already widely described in the “news” section of our new and updated web site, and in the most important social networks,  with an eye more oriented to the digital information.

And it does it leaving the floor to the CEO/Shareholder Uteco Ing. Aldo Peretti (Vice-President of Acimga/Confindustria and President Centrexpo).

Let’s talk about the year just concluded. Which trade events marked 2015 just gone?
Several. Starting from the successful participation to the international exhibition Converflex/Ipakima in May (the visitors doubled compared to the previous edition and Minister of Labour Poletti visited it enthusiastically, guided by myself as President of CentrExpo). The simultaneous Global Open House, arranged in Converdrome®, the new Centre of Research & Development and Technological Excellence, for the launch of the new rotogravure press Next 450, which grants top gravure printing performances for short and medium runs of flexible packaging. The subsequent Open House in Italy and USA, to introduce the latest innovations in top Flexo technology. Up to events arranged together with strategic Italian and international partners on coating and laminating technologies, roto-offset printing, digital printing (with the important cooperation with Kodak, one of the most prestigious brands in ink-jet market, with which Uteco cooperates with strong synergy to achieve increasingly important results in the use of digital printing technology integrated on flexo presses).
Large investments have been allocated for the company both for 2014 and 2015. Which are the most important?
Following the important investments made in 2014, such as the building of the new third plant UT3 next to the headquarters in Colognola ai Colli, and the new R&D center Converdrome in the plant UT2, as well as the doubling of the branch in USA Uteco North America (first market of the group on 80% export), Uteco continued the huge investment plan also in 2015, with a new CNC Working Station, in the main plant UT1, increasing production capacity and quality of high precision mechanical processing; in strategic human resources – 20 mechatronic engineers hired in Italy and USA, promptly trained according to 6Sigma/Lean- philosophy; in Research and Development, also in cooperation with important Italian and world organizations and universities, on innovative projects such as Printed Electronic applied to Smart-Active Packaging.
Made in Italy, quality, efficiency, all terms which describe perfectly Uteco Group.
Certainly. Therefore, in June, Uteco Group received the award as Significant Company during the event “Innovarea Day”, project arranged in cooperation with Venice University Ca’ Foscari. The company, along with other high achieving industries in Veneto, received an award because it confirmed itself also in 2015 as successful company aiming to the excellence of its products (more and more efficient and customized), the prestige of Made in Italy, the quality of human resources and ability to explore the worldwide market. In addition, thanks to its active participation to the most prestigious worldwide initiatives in printing field (ATF-Flexo, Fabbrica Futuro, FlexoDay, Simposio DFTA, Jornada  Técnica de Flexografia,...), Uteco reveals itself protagonist in several speeches on important topics such as innovation, product study, synergy and optimization of industrial processes. Overall Uteco proved to be the most performing company, not only in Italian landscape (judged by MedioBanca third among all medium Italian companies for export, growth, profitability), but also internationally in its specific sector field.
Uteco was able to take full advantage from the chance of the International EXPO Milan 2015, tell us about that.
I personally accompanied in Expo some CEO of the main world groups of the field, going in depth, in the Coop Hall with the President Pedroni, into the topics on the Supermarket of the future and future implication for the Packaging. Furthermore, Uteco was one of the main sponsors of the event “Il Cibo Racconta, le nuove frontier del food” (Food tells, new food frontiers). The Content Transfer Event, dedicated to Packaging Printing and Converting Business, held on October 28th inside the prestigious EXPO context, arranged by ACIMGA (Association of Italian manufacturer of machines for graphic industry, paper converting and paper industry, whose Uteco has the Vice Presidency) involved several leader companies in packaging and converting and buyers from many foreign countries, including the Mediterranean area (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Israel and Turkey), who had the possibility to visit the company after the meeting.
What about the new born at Uteco: Onyx XS, high performance and automation HP, the gravure press Next,  special laminators Mistral, EB range with printing/lamination/slitting for food packaging, the innovative line developed with Kodak?
Uteco introduced in the market the new compact flexo Onyx XS, equipped with the most up-to-date flexo technology, during a dedicated Open House held from 27th to 29th, proving that simplicity can generate a high return of investment. In few months dozens of sales decreed its success.
About the other mentioned machines, let us create a bit of suspense in the market in a pre-Drupa key!
What expectations for 2016? With Drupa and beyond?
2015 revealed itself a really fruitful year, rich of victories, crowned with volumes continuously growing for years (reached 120 million sales, with the goal to achieve 150 million in 2018). In this light from next May 31st to June 10th Uteco will participate to Drupa 2016: exhibition recognized in Europe and in the world as benchmark for the printing field in Düsseldorf. With a large booth located, for the first time, in the prestigious and strategic Hall 10, together with the other world powers in the branch, Uteco will introduce all news and latest technological developments in flexo, roto, ink-jet and off-set printing, lamination and converting. At the same time, important Open House with high technological and innovative contents, will be arranged in the headquarters.
During 2016, Uteco will work further to pursue the improvement and the continuous optimization of all industrial processes, with Lean Manufacturing and Engineering plans, Quality 6 Sigma and Just in Time, extension of SAP and CRM, adopting the latest digital innovations to manufacturing, logistic and company processes, introducing advanced technologies able to increase the connection among the resources used in operative processes, leading the company towards “industry 4.0”.
